New York, New York, What a hell of a town

On our first full day in New York, we decided to stay close to the hotel. My partner's thinking was that it was best to learn the layout of the neighborhood after going to Target for extra socks and breakfast at Appleby's.

We went to the Broadway Museum.  There was a rich history of Broadway, but Disney, the revival of Broadway, and Times Square were hardly mentioned.  Most of the memorabilia were from musicals of the past 30 years. Although the Wiz had a fair amount of stuff. Most of the travelers to Broadway are young and urban. The museum was loaded with young gay people working there. One in particular had a vast knowledge of Fanny Brice and Funny Girl.  He provided details on how much of Funny Girl was true and how much was embellished; for instance, the famous pregnancy pillow scene actually happened, but only in the club Zeigfeld used to let performers test new material.

After our afternoon nap, we had supper at Junior Cheesecake on 45th Street

I had pastrami on rye with Matzah ball soup. It was delicious, but I have better -think of Sharpio in Indy.

Then we went to see Operation Mincemeat at the Golden Theater. I love it, a spectacular show.

Rounded the night out with a Shake Shack milkshake
